Describe yourself with three words.
Curious, determined, hot-tempered.
How do you express yourself through your look?
My look reflects a precise mood: I can be extremely formal or sporty or I can play with colors and high quality fabrics. I certainly take my time in the morning when choosing my outfit for the day: I’m always elegant and I never choose my clothes arbitrarily.
How do you choose a watch for an everyday outfit? And for a special occasion?
I’d like to change my watch according to my outfit but, unfortunately, that’s not possible in today’s world. I’d like to live in an ideal world free of the various dangers that you encounter as soon as leaving home and the envious glances on every corner. I adapt by changing my watch every month. For a special occasion, I choose the Rolex Ovetto from the forties that I inherited from my father. It’s an unusual watch that’s also called the Rolex Bubbleback: a precursor of the Oyster Perpetual. It’s a unique memento that is very dear to me.
The spiral is a symbol of the cycle of life, expansion and development: what has been your latest important achievement?
My latest milestone is definitely seeing Cabana Magazine, of which I’m the Managing Director and Publisher, in the Ralph Lauren store window on Madison Avenue in New York. It has always been the most iconic store and a dream to me: I’d always go there as soon as I arrived in the city. Ralph Lauren is a design icon and seeing the eighth issue of the magazine dressed with his fabrics in that display window was a dream come true.
To whom would you give a jewel from the Fairytale collection?
To my fiancée Agnes: she’s young, international and elegant, perfectly in line with the brand DNA.
How has Gobbi helped create an unforgettable moment?
Serena Gobbi meticulously advised me in the choice of an important watch that I wanted to give to my fiancée for Christmas. I decided to have our special phrase engraved on the watch, and the service was supplied quickly and impeccably.
A special location in Milan?
The Yard, owned by my friend Alessandro Cesario, immediately comes to mind: an international hotel in an unexpected position, with a unique restaurant and cocktail bar.
Do you prefer Milan in the morning, afternoon or evening?
To me, Milan is perfect on Sunday morning, as Fabio Concato sang in the song Domenica Bestiale: “My love, if you only knew how much I like leaving when Milan is still sleeping, seeing it still drowsy and realizing that it’s beautiful even before all the noisy hustle and bustle.”
