Describe yourself with three words.
Determined, sensitive, creative.
How do you express yourself through your look?
I love colors, I hate trends and I prefer something unique and special. I am curious and I love hunting for things, so I have my little secret places for shopping. I often travel for work and I’m lucky enough to be able to immerse myself in the creativity and expertise of the most important luxury watchmakers. It is a unique opportunity that allows you to understand the immense heritage of history, talent, dedication, and innovation that a timepiece possesses. The human aspect is fundamental and extremely valuable; speaking with and exchanging views with master watchmakers is a fascinating and enriching adventure that always leads to new reflections.
How do you choose a watch for an everyday outfit? And for a special occasion?
Every timepiece and piece of jewelry that I wear evokes an important moment and is linked to a special person. I’m sentimental! Let’s dispel the idea that women only use quartz watches. On the contrary, we are fascinated by a watch’s mechanical movement and many of us are intrigued by the magic of complications. The world of fine watchmaking has created an excellent supply of complications for women’s watches in recent years. For example, I adore the Patek Philippe Lady Cronograph.
The spiral is a symbol of the cycle of life, expansion and development: what has been your latest important achievement?
My husband and I dreamed of having a large family: having three wonderful children is quite an achievement! The second is definitely The Ducker Magazine, an e-zine in which my passions and entrepreneurial spirit converge. In my mind, what is most interesting in the jewelry, watchmaking, and artisan craftsmanship and design sectors is not just the product, but a continuous creation of value and culture. Studying, understanding and transmitting to the public not only beauty but, above all, its spirit and essence is the challenge of The Ducker Magazine.
To whom would you give a jewel from the Fairytale collection?
The absolutely evocative name that Serena chose for the collection reminds me of charming childhood fairytales. Therefore, I would give it to my mother, who taught me to believe in beautiful dreams. And as a mom myself, I’ll also try to pass this on to my children.
How has Gobbi 1842 helped you create an unforgettable moment?
The 175th anniversary of Gobbi was an exciting event for me and the entire city of Milan. I remember that evening perfectly: the Sforzesco Castle was brightly illuminated, two great Maisons like Rolex and Patek Philippe were on hand, and we Milanese came to celebrate Serena on such a special anniversary. It was a great tribute to the history of a family and its immense passion for watchmaking.
Do you have a special place in Milan?
The garden of the Bulgari Hotel for an aperitif in the spring. It is a beautiful corner, full of nature, in Milan.
Do you prefer Milan in the morning, afternoon or evening?
I love Milan, any time of day! In recent years our city has proven to be the perfect combination of creativity and business. Although I travel often, Milan is my home, the nest I always return to: I would never betray it, not even for Paris!
